The Ella Center in Sderot was established in memory of
Ella Abukasis HYD, who was murdered in 2005 while shielding her younger brother, Tamir, with her own body.

 

The center also serves as the home of Moledet, an organization that provides operational support to Israeli farmers in protecting the land. The organization was founded by Tamir, Ella’s brother, and is managed by his fellow soldiers from their military unit.

 

The site also includes a memorial area dedicated to the IDF female observers who were murdered on October 7th.

 

All memorial designs throughout the center were created by Dovi Yitzhak Ben Shushan, himself a fighter in the same unit.
